I
f you are reading this section is probably because you are interested in turning your hobby into a job. Why not make a living doing something that you love to do?? Isn’t that what most people would love to be able to do??

If you wish to make a living supervising divers or training others to become divers, ACUC offers you the perfect training and opportunity to become an excellent professional, as a Divemaster or an Instructor.

To start, you must already be at least certified as a Rescue Diver. The next step is to take an ACUC Divemaster course.

THE ACUC DIVEMASTER COURSE

You must be already certified, or be certified during the Divemaster course, as a First Aid Provider and Emergency Oxygen Provider.

The main characteristics of this course is that the students that successfully completes the course, will be able to:

  1. Act as a Dive Controller
  2. Lead certified divers in open water dives
  3. As a Dive Guide, assist in the training of new divers
  4. Teach some non certification ACUC Scuba courses (Introduction to Diving) and also
  5. Teach, evaluate and certify some “dry” specialties (specialties where no water training is involved), as long as the Divemaster holds the corresponding Specialty Instructor rating

Minimum age is 18 years old

You can see the ACUC standards, course contents and requirements for this course in this PDF document

You have 2 choices:

  1. Entry Level Instructor
  2. Open Water Instructor

You can do the corresponding courses to become either one of the following:

THE ACUC ENTRY LEVEL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

This is an optional certification.

You will be able to do what the Divemaster does and you will be able to also:

  2. Certify Open Water Divers

It is a course recommended for those that wish a slower progression to the level of Open Water Instructor
